Dear friends,

The Summer heat in August, gradually gave way to more familiar for us St. Petersburg weather. That's why, despite the "holiday" time, this month we had a full variety of activities. First, there was an answer to a query, the "cry of the soul" about job quotas. It would seem hopeless, but jointly we found an answer. On August 4th, at the HR Committee meeting, initiated by HR Director of SCA Packaging Inna Tyutyunnik, lawyers of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Andrey Odabashyan and Ivan Popov, made a presentation on "job quotas." In a dialogue, together with lawyers and HR Committee members, involved in the discussion, have clarified the issue and developed way to solve the problems faced by SCA Packaging. The meeting of the HR Committee in September will focus on the formulation of migration control in organizations. We invite specialists and all interested in this matter for participation.

Then, on August 12, the wine tasting in vault Grand Cru occurred, which, unfortunately, did not become a real "event of Wine", but has collected a wonderfully warm company. We have decided to continue this journey, but make tickets more expensive, approx. 1000 rubles and higher. Good thing cannot be too cheap! Please, pay attention to a meeting of SPIBA friends at the Gymnasium restaurant on September 17.

But the most surprising event was the trip to the Smurfit Kappa factory producing corrugated board packaging on August 19. Not only that, the company produces an excellent package, but it is friends with nature. On the territory of the plant lives a beaver and a fox periodically fed by staff. This atmosphere of friendship and love creates all conditions for creative work and the birth of many innovative ideas. The main theme of our meeting was the development of selling strategy for the company. We learned more about working processes of the company, and amazing School of Carton, in which customers and potential customers may learn the effective way of using packaging, get acquainted with modern technology to apply innovative ideas into practice. Packaging was so exciting! See pictures

Of course, there are many pitfalls in the management of Russian, but they are also among the Finns and Germans, and Swedes. This was noted at a very exciting seminar on "Pitfalls in the management of Russian. Cross cultural communication", which was held at the Stockholm School of Economics on August 24. For the workshop SPIBA invited bestselling author of the Russian model of management, Professor Alexander Prokhorov from Yaroslavl. He is a historian and economist, who has his own consultancy practice, researcher and member of the board of directors of several major Russian companies. The book, which he wrote, quickly disappeared from store shelves, but now it was published in the school Skolkovo in English. Soon Skolkovo prepares the publication in Russian. See pictures

Conclusion - be aware of pitfalls, and then you can effectively drive your business to the goal! In this case, even burning issuses of customs can be resolved. It became apparent on a working meeting with the representative of NW Customs Administration on August 27th. The theme of the meeting was "New customs rules for the movement of goods, currency and vehicles within the Customs Union." We have received information and a guide to action, and all because informal atmosphere of the discussion, and the question has been prepared by professionals. After the meeting, each participant received a CD with information and the opportunity to receive answers on all issues first-hand.

In August SPIBA received a positive response from NW Customs Administration on its application for participation in the Advisory Council on Customs. Igor Petrov will represent SPIBA in this Council.

Please, find the Calendar of September events on our new website.
Today it was launched both  in Russian and English versions.
