We would like to announce the upcoming election of three members to the SPIBA Executive Committee and the SPIBA Executive Director due to the end of their two-year term.

In accordance with the SPIBA Charter, the election to the Executive Committee and the Executive Director must be held at the General Meeting of SPIBA members.

The meeting will be held on March 20, 2012 (date TBD!).

This is your opportunity to contribute to the Association, to make sure that your opinions and ideas are part of SPIBA’s future.  Executive Committee members normally meet at least once a month to decide the policy and actions of the Association (including budgets and expenditures).  EC members also may head an independent committee within the organization or lead a specific area of SPIBA’s operation.  EC members do not receive any financial compensation for their work but their input is highly valuable and recognized by SPIBA members.

The deadline for the submission of candidate profiles is Tuesday February 28, 2012.  Ballots and candidates’ profiles will be sent to members by e-mail on Tuesday March 6, 2012.  Members will be able to vote either via e-mail or by fax, or at the SPIBA General Meeting on March 20, 2012. 

SPIBA’s Environment, Health and Safety Committee has agreed with Rospotrebnadzor management in St. Petersburg (and Lenigradskiy region, if necessary) the meeting with SPIBA Members in January 2012 to discuss issues related to the sanitary-protective zones for businesses within a single industrial zone.

Your questions will be forwarded to Rospotrebnadzor and answers themselves will be announced at the January meeting.

During the meeting of SPIBA's Environment, Health and Safety Committee with Evgeny Tselikov, First Deputy Director of the Vodokanal St. Petersburg in March 2011, an idea was proposed and endorsed in creating a SPIBA working group at the Vodokanal St. Petersburg for an effective solution to the urgent problem of water supply and channelization, and for creating a permanent dialogue with the international business community.
The next meeting to be held in the near future. The group includes representatives from such companies as Ahlers,  Ernst&Young, Smurfit Kappa, and Unilever.

SPIBA supports the initiative of Vedomosti business newspaper, in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Donors Forum nonprofit partnership of grantmaking organisations, in conducting the third annual survey of corporate philanthropic programmes in Russia. This year, the project is going under the name Corporate Leaders in Philanthropy 2009. It is a sequel to Vedomosti and PwC’s corporate philanthropy survey and the Donor Forum’s Russian Corporate Donor competition.

The survey is designed to study corporate charitable programmes in 2009, to analyse best practices in corporate philanthropy, and to attract public, government and media attention to this aspect of Russian business.

We would like to invite all interested companies to take part in the survey, as we acknowledge your company’s contribution to the development of a culture of giving in Russia. Please fill in the questionnaire and mail it to the Project Organization Committee by 20 August 2010. SPIBA’s HR Committee has organized a meeting with leaders of the State Labour Inspectorate: Ayshat Adzheniazova, Chief State Labour Inspector of legal affairs, Olga Litsukova, State Labour Inspector of legal affairs. Participants got acquainted with Labor inspectorate structure, its activity and latest initiatives.

Environment, Health and Safety Committee have organized a business tour to State Unitary Enterprise "Plant for the mechanized processing of household waste"/Factory MPBO-II". During excursion participants got knowledge of enterprise activity, after that working group session has been held.

SPIBA and Statoil Energy and Retail Russia are organizing a seminar: SAFETY OF DOING BUSINESS IN RUSSIA

This meeting with representatives of local authoriries was organized in the framework of the Pietari Business Campus (PBC) project and was initiated by Nokian Renkaat Oyj and other Finnish companies operating in St Petersburg. PBC is an intergovernmental project supported by UM/TEM. It involves three Committees from the City of St. Petersburg and Finnish companies operating in St Petersburg: A-Insinoorit Oy, Nokian Renkaat Oyj, OOO Sokotel, Teknikum Oy, TP-Kunnossapito Oy, see brief agenda attached.

As a result of reforms within the Northwest customs office, five customs posts now working within the city boundaries will be closed - Shusharsky, Southern, Krasnoselsky, Southwest and Gatchina.
